Meet Carlitta Howard
Carlitta hails from Norfolk, Virginia by way of Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. She is a recent graduate of Old Dominion University and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Dance, concentrating in Dance Performance.
She has spent many a day in a leotard and tights and rooms with wall-to-wall mirrors, hearing other dancers compare body types, flaws and all. As someone recovering from body dysmorphia and anorexia, she believes that the social and traditional stigmas hold no weight to what a person’s character and inner beauty has to offer to the world. Her mother always encouraged her to smile in the mirror for 15 minutes each day to improve her overall daily mood and outlook on life. Once she saw herself smile outwardly, her inside felt at ease, and the negative thoughts were silenced. She has found that her new mindset of loving herself as is has made life a lot less trivial. She hopes to be an inspiration to all dealing with body dysmorphia and eating disorders by way of her daily reminder: “Your day is what you make it. No one can make you feel inferior or superior but you. You are who you are and that is alright with me.” She knows that recovery and restoration is a daily process and that it will not happen overnight, but it will happen.
Meet Lila Hartage
Lila Hartage was born in Orlando, Florida, and lives in Phoenix, Arizona.
Lila is a recent graduate from Sierra College, where she studied social and behavioral science. She is in the process of building a way to constantly promote Self-Love over the internet and plans to return to Phoenix in 2014 to pursue her Bachelor Degree in Worship Arts Music from Grand Canyon University.
Hello all! Where do I start? My name is Erica. I reside in Novato, California and I am currently 25 years of age. I am very passionate about spreading awareness on Eating Disorders, addictions and self/body image as I was once in the depths of despair, fighting my own inner battles. I want to share my insights and experience being a Love Warrior and bring hope to all those that suffer in their own unique way. I have to remind myself often that in order to create lasting compassion and love for myself this process cannot be a war, not even a fight. For me, I had to stop breaking myself down into “good” and “bad” or “right” and “wrong” parts. Not until I started to emotionally nourish myself with love did I loosen the grips of my inner battle with body image and food. I observe over and over again that those who suffer with their own internal battles are often largely misunderstood. People have ideas and concepts of what and why a person does or thinks or feels the way they do, but the deeper meaning of one who suffers is over-looked. And, I believe that once we can see and work with the deeper meanings….healing and self-love begin to enter our lives in ways we never imagined. I encourage you to take the time to create some self-love in this moment and check out this website! You are loved.
Here is a bit about me: Name is Wuisa! I’m a nonconformist nomad, adventurer and seeker of pleasure. A twenty-one-year-old explorer. In search of those petit unforgettable blissful moments in life. Born in Bogotá, Colombia in the Andes Mountains where fall-like weather is eternal. I’m in my last semester of college at Randolph College in vintage Lynchburg, Virginia, taking 20.5 academic credits. An Environmental Studies major with a minor in French. I love to stay busy and go for long distance runs in the forest. If sunbathing naked were a sport, I would have countless gold medals. I find Ayn Rand’s views on objectivism brilliant, and I think Chuck Palahniuk is a creative genius. I am obsessed with Frida Kahlo‘s paintings and Pablo Neruda’s Poems. In my spare time, I write poetry, cook and watch foreign films. I promise you this, one day I’m going to stop whatever I’m doing, buy a ticket to Paris, then buy a ridiculously expensive camera and sleep in a tent near the Eiffel Tower. Never forget inspiration is endless. Pas.
My name is Hannah Coleman and I hate talking about myself. My thoughts are fair game but descriptive autobiographies are not my strong suit. That being said, here is a very short explanation of how I see myself. I’m contradictory, loud, opinionated, and infected with an awful case of Wanderlust. I dislike suede and people telling me what I can’t do. I’m currently studying Sociology and finishing my final semester as a Senior in college. I enjoy living my life with honesty and surrounded by good friends. There are a lot of things that I don’t know but what I do know is: I love exploring new places and meeting new people. I love the possibilities found in being introduced to a new song or artist. Above all, I cherish independence. For now I’m taking everything a day at a time. As Bowie said, “I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring.”
Our First Love Warrior Intern
Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia I believe that I have significant contributions to make to the world of diplomacy and US foreign policy. I am currently obtaining my masters degree in European Union policy studies in Florence Italy at James Madison University! I majored in Political Science: International Relations with minors in Spanish and Studio Art at Randolph College, founded as Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in 1981.
My goal is to spread the Love Warrior Community, meaning more people actively bringing self-love into their lives and into the lives of others, more people accepting and loving themselves as they are and more people empowered to follow their passions and share them with the world. The Love Warrior Community is as strong as those involved. By joining the Love Warrior Community, I have the opportunity to create my own self-love practice, bringing more love into my life and the lives of those around me. I will be able to influence a greater number of people and help them to see their value and worth beyond their bodies.
